The last time I was at the gym with my usual group of friends, someone spoke of a tiny “apartment” that was for sale in London that was the size of a closet…
Look what £170,000 can buy you
A flat roughly the size of a snooker table has gone on sale for £170,000 in London’s upmarket Chelsea.
During the conversation it was unclear how anyone could possibly live in something so small… but it seems that its actually possible!
Simple Simon used SketchUp to draw up plans for a renovation of the place that would render it habitable. His ideas are pretty clever

I’m sure lots of you out there love NPR and PBS…. 🙂
President Bush just proposed drastic cuts to NPR and PBS. We’ve stopped similar cuts in the past, but enough is enough: With the new Congress, we can make sure this never happens again. Sign this petition to Congress

It was a pretty easy set up and seems to work pretty well… now, phones that showed only 1 or 2 bars are now showing 3 or 4 bars… we’ll see if the call quality improves as we use it over time.
Thanks Rakesh! 😀

So you can eat less… or work-out… or do both! And it all works! 😀

Newly built homes aren’t selling…
Sales of new homes plunged in 2006 by the largest amount in 16 years as the nation’s housing industry suffered through a sharp contraction after five boom years
And the other side…
While speculators and flippers in places such as Boston and San Diego are running for cover, in other parts of the country they are basking in robust residential sales.
Fascinating stuff…
The conventional wisdom is that we choose friends because of who they are. But it turns out that we actually love them because of the way they support who we are
One of the companies I’ve been helping with is a an awesome group out in Chicago called Inventables. We met a couple of years back at TED, and ever since we’ve been talking regularly, and I was invited to be on a board for them as well.
Everytime I see them and talk to them I get excited – they have some really great stuff over there. Even their customer list is impressive!

Found this photo as I was digging through some boxes.

The Rackspace deal-makers… from left to right – Morris Miller, Dirk Elmendorf, Richard Yoo, and Pat Condon. Our lawyers were also there, working very hard in the background. (Thanks to Daryl Lansdale for shooting the photo for us. 😀 )
The six of us probably were together daily for weeks. In fact, if I remember correctly, Morris was working on our deal while his wife was giving birth! (For the record, both the baby and mother did fine. :))
The photo was stamped 12/30/98 – but I can assure you that the process of getting the final documents signed started the evening before. In fact, I think we were locked in the law office from 9:00pm the previous night. It sounds rough, but I remember it very fondly. 😀
Tips and tricks for helping you drop those holiday pounds…
Boosting ones metabolism is something many people try to achieve everyday. Having a high metabolic rate increases the amount of calories, or energy, the body burns on a daily basis. Without optimal metabolism the body will store excess calories as fat for future use. The problem for many people is they don’t ever use these excess calories and as a result struggle with weight issues.

Automatix2 makes Ubuntu Linux even more useful…
Although Ubuntu comes with lots of applications that can be installed on your desktop, there are still some applications that are available only from third-party repositories. Finding all these repositories and installing these applications manually is very time-consuming, but fortunately some people have created a script called Automatix2 (which is the successor to Automatix) which automates the task for you. It comes with a graphical interface so that you can run it from your desktop, and this tutorial describes how you do it.
