The upside of hurricanes

I wasn’t familiar with Gulf ‘dead zones’ until this article… I guess there’s some good that comes of hurricanes.

The oxygen-starved “dead zone” that forms every summer in the Gulf of Mexico is a bit smaller than predicted this year because Hurricane Dolly stirred up the water, a scientist reported Monday.

When people are told that there’s a new version of Windows called Mojave (ie, Windows Mojave) and people get to play with it, they love it!

Its been a year or so since Vista came out… perhaps its time to try it again.

Most of my complaints stemmed from driver support and application support (ie, iTunes didn’t work in Vista the first few weeks Vista was released, for instance)… did they ever get Synergy working in Vista?

  • compiling a linux kernel on an 8-core machine is ridiculously fast… wow! #
  • 8-core machine = dual intel E5310 overclocked to 2.0ghz. Its a Dell PowerEdge SC1430 that I bought for $750 online with free shipping. #
  • finally got Ubuntu 8.04 with Kernel v2.6 working on a IBM NetVista N2200. Sweet! #
  • My new HP iPaq 910 windows mobile 6.1 phone has finally been shipped. My old HTC TyTn was on its last legs. (yes, I have an iphone too). 🙂 #

  • I wish the google email uploader would let me upload a branch in a folder tree without forcing me to upload the root as well… #
