South By Girls rapsong is good stuff
If you’ve ever been to SxSWi you’ve seen the folks the song talks about… funny stuff:
It all started as a joke. On a Twitter challenge from a record-industry friend, Eston made a rap song about SXSWi. While we werenât able to finish the video in time for SXSW, that doesnât mean that you canât. Make a video using Double Dâs single and submit it to the Vimeo group….

Prepping my car for the Gumball 3000
So as I start thinking about what gear I may need in my cart for the Gumball 3000 in May my research led me to a guy named Alex.
Alex Roy is a bit of a legend when it comes to rally racing… in this video below he shows the gear he’s got in his BMW M5:
And here’s Alex reviewing someone else’s car:

I’m racing in the Gumball 3000 this year…

So I’m thinking about going on the Gumball 3000 this year… Growing up, the movie Cannonball Run was a staple for every young boy, much like the obligatory Lamborghini Countach poster. The Gumball 3000 is essentially like the rally in the Cannonball Run movie.
In the past recent years, the Gumball was this international event… and after watching some videos of people getting detained at the borders of various countries, I decided that I wasn’t going to get caught up in any mess like that… and I flippantly told my self that if it ever became a US-only rally again, I’d consider it…
Well… turns out, for 2009, the Gumball 3000 is a US-only event… starting in LA and heading to Miami… it even comes through Dallas and Houston!
So I applied and got accepted. So I guess I’m doing it this year… đ

Things I Can’t Stand About The iPhone
I think there are definitely more than 8… but this is a decent start… đ
The iPhone is like the bacon-wrapped scallop of the mobile world. Both are quite visually pleasing relative to their peers, easy to use, and generally liked by the masses. Spend a little too much time with either, however, and you start to see the flaws. With the scallops, the grease and animal fat that was oh-so delicious on the way down begins to clog your arteries and slow your saunter. With the iPhone, the interface that seemed oh-so-polished when it first met your fingertips begins to show signs of oversight and imperfection.

Most awesome-est presentation at TED 2009
Of all the presentations I sat through this year at TED in Long Beach, this was probably the coolest technology related one:
High-speed video of Lightening
I think its crazy that lightening contiues to kill 60 people a year on average in the US…
New high-speed video cameras are helping reveal the structure of lightning, allowing scientists to study these deadly bolts of electricity in much greater detail than ever before.

Vitamin Pill Controversy
I admit it, I take some vitamins… maybe I should stop?
Ever since the Nobel Prize-winning biochemist Linus Pauling first promoted âmegadosesâ of essential nutrients 40 years ago, Americans have been devoted to their vitamins. Today about half of all adults use some form of dietary supplement, at a cost of $23 billion a year.
But are vitamins worth it? In the past few years, several high-quality studies have failed to show that extra vitamins, at least in pill form, help prevent chronic disease or prolong life.
