I dunno what’s going on with Comcast but here’s a plot of the signal levels from my cablemodem… the downstream power level is bouncing all over the place… so far, it doesn’t seem to affect my connection but its a bit odd…

Mine was doing strange things last week, albeit on Charter cable in Fort Worth. After reading your post today, I ran a few tests and voila! Downstream went from 4,000 kbps to 20,000kbps! Upstream went from 400kbps to 1,000kbps! Hope you have the same problem! =)
Hmm… That waveform looks like the binary representation of the third verse of “It’s the End of the World as We Know It”
either that or “I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts, Deedledeedee…”
