Odd coincidence. Am in Copenhagen in Denmark having a few beers with one of the founders of Gigabit.dk. He leases fibre from the local telco, attaches his own kit and provides 1gb out to consumers. Not ADSL but 1gb in each direction. His idea is that it just means you can forget about being bandwidth constrained and start thinking about connecting whatever you want!
