This is just an example of a journalist realizing that you can generate more buzz by taking one side of the argument as opposed to stating the merits of both sides. The article even quotes the scientist making the dubious claim that all opposing research is “spurious”. It really isn’t clear how much of our behavior is hard-wired versus socialization. For example, male monkeys prefer toys for boys.

Also, by assuming that there are no differences, parents and educators can ignore simple solutions that will help their child learn.
