So many people have been asking about the car I’m taking to the Gumball 3000 that I figured I’d make a blog post about it.
Behold the Cadillac XLR-V I’m taking:
Some minor drive-train mods were done… including a cold air kit, a computer reprogramming, and an exhaust bypass switch… with those mods I should be pushing north of 500bhp and its much more fun to drive with the changes:
Blinder M25 laser jammers were installed in the front:
And in the rear:
Inside, I have a Valentine One radar detector, a Uniden BCD396XT radio scanner, a Midland 75-822 CB radio, and a Garmin nüvi 760 navigation unit with FM traffic and Trapster data loaded in it. (You’ll also see the cradles for the Blackberry’s on the dash as well.)
Oh, there’s also a small Linux computer recording the GPS info (lat, long, alt, speed, and heading) and a webcam taking shots every second of the road ahead – but I’ll write more about that later in another post…
Finally it was picked up and transported to Santa Monica for the start…
